The year’s essential event; the Tutankhamun exhibition
Categories : OUT - Paris, published on : 5/5/19
If there’s an exhibition not to be missed this year, it’s the one devoted to Tutankhamun! Exceptional in every way, it’s proving hugely popular. Make your plans to see it soon because the exhibits will eventually be returned to Egypt, where they will remain in a new museum built specially to house them and other ancient Egyptian treasures. An essential experience during your stay at the Hotel Monte Cristo.
Tutankhamun; The Treasure of the Pharaoh
Everything is unusual about this exhibition, starting with the subject. Discovered almost a century ago in an adventure involving swashbuckling archaeology and a curse, the boy king Tutankhamun re-emerged from the mists of time surrounded by thousands of unique and priceless artefacts. Today, in addition to the pharaoh’s sarcophagus, around 150 items are being presented to the public, from a majestic bed of gilded wood to the modest but graceful ointment vases. 50 of the pieces currently on show have never previously been seen outside Egypt!
A complete experience
The Tutankhamun exhibition offers an immersive experience. The sound, light and scenography have been cleverly designed to plunge the visitor into the mysterious and fascinating world of the art, culture and beliefs of ancient Egypt. You can either enjoy The Treasure of the Pharaoh at your own pace or take advantage of the wealth of information provided by the audioguides. Whichever you choose, wonderment awaits!
The Grande Halle de la Villette is the ideal place to host this exceptional exhibition, which runs until September 15th, 2019. As demand is certain to be high, we advise you to book your ticket as soon as possible, and remember to reserve your room at the Hotel Monte Cristo at the same time.
